Nothing goes to waste
Every removal makes a truckload of wood. Rather than dumping it, the sound stuff gets cut to length and split — the same trees that came out of yards around New Braunfels end up in fire pits and stoves a few miles away.
Because it comes off real jobs, what is available moves around. Some weeks it is a pile of oak; some weeks it is whatever the week's trees happened to be. That is why there is no menu on this page — ring the number and ask what is stacked right now.
Keeping the wood off your own tree
If we are taking a tree out for you and you want the wood, say so before the crew starts. The rounds get stacked where you want them instead of loaded, and you save the haul-off. Splitting is a separate conversation — a trunk-sized round is not something to hand somebody with an axe and a good attitude.
Green wood, seasoned wood
Freshly cut wood is heavy with water and will not burn properly. It needs to sit — split, stacked off the ground, covered on top and open at the sides — before it is worth putting in a stove. If you are buying wood for this winter, ask how long it has been down. We will give you a straight answer rather than sell green wood as seasoned.
One warning about oak
Do not haul unseasoned red oak from one property to another. Fresh red oak can carry the fungal mats that spread oak wilt, and moving it is one of the ways the disease reaches a new neighbourhood. Season it fully and keep it covered — the same reason we seal every oak cut on the job.

What kind of wood is it?
Whatever came off the week's jobs — usually the local hardwood mix. Call and ask what is on the ground before you drive out; it changes week to week.
Can I keep the wood off my own tree?
Yes, and plenty of people do. Tell us before the crew starts and the rounds get stacked where you want them instead of loaded onto the truck.
Is the wood ready to burn?
Ask when you call. Wood cut this week is green and needs to sit; anything that has been down a while is further along. We will tell you honestly which one you are getting rather than sell you wet wood as seasoned.
Should I move oak firewood between properties?
Not unseasoned red oak. Fresh red oak can carry oak wilt fungal mats, which is how the disease jumps to a new area. Let it season fully, and keep it covered while it does.
